A great Facebook page I just found is Zeppelin Squadron. It has a lot information on Lighter than Air flight past present and future and more importantly what have been. Today July 1 2014 it had many pictures of the R100 and 101.

Val Biro, illustrator of several Shute books, recently suffered a stroke and died on Friday, July 4. A number of us were privileged to meet him recently and listen to his reminiscences of his life and work.

This is so cool!!!

If you’re a history buff you will love this, if your not, you will still like it and be amazed!!!

This is really amazing.

There are 10 photos and you can scroll back and forth on each picture as fast as you want to see the changes.

How things looked in 1944 and how they look today. Hard to believe that it has been 70 years.

To get this link to work. Left click, hold and drag your mouse gently From right to left on the original photo and it will become the exact same location today. Repeat the motion to take it back to the original.

I have read all the Nevel Shute books several times and will doubtless continue so.

A.J. Cronin has some of the Shute spirit and visa versa.

Would anybody know, if there are other, also contemporary, writers following up on this tradition?
