CAPE COD 2005

REGISTRATIONS AND RESERVATIONS

It is now time to register and make reservations for the fantastic Cape Cod Nevil Shute Gathering to take place in Hyannis, Massachusetts, from October 2 to October 6, 2005. This Gathering will enable you to meet people from the United States and many different countries who love Nevil Shute books. You will attend literary sessions with widely differing topics. Also, you will tour Cape Cod and visit many of the sites noted in Shute's epic An Old Captivity. This notice gives all the information you will need to Register with the hosts, Art and Joan Cornell, and make room Reservations with the beautiful, luxurious Cape Codder Resort.

REGISTRATION WITH HOSTS

The Registration Fee for the Gathering is 350 US dollars per person payable ASAP so that we can more easily plan events. This fee covers the Welcoming Reception on Sunday (should be enough food for supper), four lunches (Monday through Thursday), the Tuesday excursion bus tour (includes lunch and a tea), attendance at each of the six literary sessions (two each on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday with morning and afternoon tea breaks), the Wednesday night Cape Cod Dinner, and miscellaneous items such as the film festival and the exhibits. All taxes and gratuities are included.

Those people who want to attend only part of the Gathering should contact Art and Joan. We will have available DAY and EVENT tickets.

There will be no breakfasts included in either the Registration or the hotel Reservation. In addition, each person is on their own for dinner on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday nights. There are two restaurants within the Resort and many nearby within walking distance.

  • Fees in the U. S. can be paid by check payable to Art Cornell and sent to 274 West Wind Circle, Osterville, MA 02655. You can also contact Art by phone at 303-948-7675 or by e-mail at GAC29@aol.com.
  • For ease of registration, UK attendees have the option of sending a check for £220 directly to our UK based director and representative Steph Gallagher. This fee has been set to allow for exchange rate fluctuations and conversion fees. Checks should be made payable to "Steph Gallagher" and sent to: 24 The Ridgeway, CODICOTE, Hertfordshire, SG4 8YP, Great Britain. You can also contact Steph by e-mail at: steph.gallagher@btinternet.com should you have any questions.
  • Registration Fees for attendees from Australia will be handled in a different manner. Those in Australia wishing to attend the Gathering should E-mail Richard Michalak. Richard will determine the Australian dollars equivalent to 350 USA dollars and will tell you when and where to send your check. This will save you a trip to the bank and save you some currency transfer fees. Checks should be made payable to "Richard Michalak."
  • Registration Fees in all other countries should be sent by bank draft or money order payable to Art Cornell in USA dollars, drawn against a USA major bank.

Full refunds of the Registration Fee will be made at any time provided we are notified no later than September 29, 2005. After that date, only partial refunds will be made.
BONUS: The first twenty registrations (determined by postmark on your letter with check) will received a hand bound, hard cover book titled My World of Yesterdays written by a woman who grew up in Northern Michigan in the early 1900s; published and signed by Art Cornell. You will prize it.
Along with your check send the completed Registration Form shown below. Your name(s) should be listed as you want them to appear on your name tag. Please list your five favorite Shute books in any order. This information is needed for one of the activities we have planned. And don't forget to read An Old Captivity.

Click Here to open or download the pdf registration form. (You will need the Adobe Reader to view this document.) Print the form, fill it out, and mail it with your check to the appropriate coordinator for your location.
