Babette Hills
Secretary and Treasurer

Babette first read "On the Beach" in High school followed by a "Town Like Alice" and "Legacy" in the mid 70's. She thought they were two different books! Babette registered for all the Gatherings but was unable to attend the Centennial. She is still mad at her mother who had a stroke the week before. (Maman is doing well now.)

Babette married Wayne Caruolo in 1974. He is not a Shute fan. They have two adult sons. Babette has worked as a reference librarian in Aurora, Colorado since 1982. When not reading, she enjoys outdoor activities and works as a part-time river guide in Colorado and Utah.

After meeting the Cornells, Westers and Susan Batross at OZ2001 she helped start the Colorado Chapter which still meets six times a year.

Babette took over the Secretary/Treasurer duties in January 2008.
